Discussion - Why?
This post will probably be pretty short compared to the others, because I really haven't figured this particular topic out. I haven't really figured anything out, but based on biblical references and words from The Lord, usually the sentences just flow...However THIS PARTICULAR TOPIC... I'm having trouble understanding. It's not even about God that's causing my confusion...it's about ME. I don't understand why I do this. Also, I'm going to try to post these earlier...ok? Let's move on.
Whether you like it, hate it, know it, or don't know it, God is blessing us every day. Just waking up in the morning and getting another chance to make right the wrongs that you've made yesterday is a blessing. Every day is like a fresh set of downs in a football game (if you don't understand football, ask someone who does to explain what downs are). However, there will be a time where our days are over, and there will be no more "downs" (seriously, ask someone) figuratively speaking. Not to sound all scary, but there will come a time where there are no more second chances and do-overs. However you've lived your life is what will determine where you go. This shouldn't be a thing we should worry about, however, because the bible says that God so loved the earth that he gave His ONLY begotten son so that EVERYONE that believes in him will NOT perish, but have eternal life. (John, 3:16)
(I could go on about how just because you're saved doesn't mean you can live any way that you want; or how good deeds alone don't get you into Heaven... however I'll continue speaking on my confusion.)
I'll be 100% real with you all and use myself as an example. Last night I was watching a dating/reality show, and all of the girls that were on the show parents came came to judge the guys on the show. The guys were sweating bullets. Literally, one guy had sweat stains all over his shirt before one question was even asked. I thought to myself, "I wouldn't be nervous at all - I don't have anything to hide + I'm pretty happy with where my life is at"...then I started thinking about the potential things that are wrong with me. However, before we start forming lists and stuff let's stop right there and answer these questions:
1. Why do we look for the wrong in everything?
2. Why do look even harder when things seem to be perfectly fine, instead of just enjoying it is as it is?
I'm pretty sure we've all heard stories about how that guy or girl found the perfect person to date but didn't date them because there was nothing wrong with them. WHY ON EARTH DO WE DO THAT?
Well, the answer is literally in the question. [On Earth.] We have formed an earthly perception of things that cause us to look for things that are wrong because that seems right. Right? I have no idea.
In this amplified version of Galatians 5:17 we see the reason behind our fleshly desires wanting to do bad things...
"For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do."
Ah. So that makes sense... We are always at a constant battle between wanting to do bad and wanting to do good. However, I still don't understand why we complain while things are going goo-WAIT A MINUTE! THAT'S WHY! We complain all the time because of our flesh. Our flesh is NEVER satisfied, and if you're living according to The Spirit, then OF COURSE your flesh is going to feel some type of way. That's why every time you make a right decision you feel bad about it. As "Duh" of a moment this probably is for most of you, I (and maybe someone else) needed to hear this. All we do as humans in general (not just a particular generation - ALL generations do it, or have done it) is sit around and COMPLAIN COMPLAIN COMPLAIN. Why this, and why that, why my this and why my that... THAT'S OUR NEVER SATISFIED FLESH COMPLAINING ABOUT NOTHING.
Our life could be going great -- God blessing us from left to right, and all we want to do is listen to our flesh and give in to it's unsatisfiedness (yes I made that word up). We need to repent, and ask for forgiveness RIGHT now. God is too good for us to be complaining about ANYTHING.
Say this:
"Heavenly Father, which art in Heaven. I come to you today asking for forgiveness. I've been unappreciative and non accepting of Your blessings that You bestow upon me everyday by complaining. I now realize that this is indeed a work of the flesh, and from here on out I will try my best to not complain. Instead I will give Your name glory and honor for not only what You have given and done for me, but for being YOU ALONE. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen."
Next time you find yourself complaining, replace those words with praises to God.
What are some things that you are grateful for that you know God gave you?
