KEEPING GOD FIRST
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added onto you" - Matthew 6:33
This year has definitely been one for the books. A lot of people have been going through struggles this year that they may have never experienced before.
However, the key words in the phrase "going through a lot" are going and through.
The word going is defined as an act or an instance of leaving a place; a departure.
The word through is defined as continuing in time toward completion of (a process or period).
So when you are going through something, you are literally going through it. You are heading towards the completion of whatever it is. That means it won't last always.
It's like driving. You go through a lot of places to reach your destination; but in the end you get to where you are going -- if you keep going.
Am I making sense? I sure hope so.
It's important, however, that when you are going through things that you remember Who controls all things.
Back to the driving reference...
When you're driving somewhere that you're unfamiliar with, you use your GPS or a map right? You don't turn off the GPS or put the map down until it says that you've arrived.
However, when you know where you're going you don't use a map or a GPS to direct your paths. You have faith that you know where you're going. You've been there before, time after time again.
We treat God the same way sometimes. When we are going somewhere we don't know, we trust God to get us there. We let Him lead us to exactly where we need to be. (Or at least we should.)
But if we think we know where we are going...that's a different story.
It's good to have faith, however sometimes we don't even think twice about seeking God for help. We get so comfortable in doing things ourselves that we think we've got it.
Have you ever used your GPS to get somewhere, but then once you recognized the area you were in turned it off? You can't do that with God. You have to trust in God all the way there. There's no saying "I got it from here".
Yes, this year has been tough for some, but we have to keep going. We have to keep God first and continue to move forward so we can reach the final destination. Without God as our GPS in life, we will just end up lost traveling in directions that lead us to places we weren't even going.
"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." - Proverbs 3:6

Also, if you haven't already made the decision to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior, I suggest that you make that decision today!
"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9
After that -- join a good faith based Bible based church -- get baptized -- read The Word everyday! Pray everyday! Trust me, I did it. It's still and will forever be the best decision that I have ever made in life!
