Decisions, Decisions

I don't want to mess up!

Life is full of decisions.
Hard decisions; easy decisions.
Where you are right now in life is a product of the decisions that you've made in the past.

With all of the decisions that have to be made in life, how can we be certain that we are making the RIGHT decisions all of the time? Sometimes, we have an idea in our head of what we could do, but with that comes a full list of uncertainties and possible consequences. One bad decision could mess up EVERYTHING. One good decision could change EVERYTHING.

There are multiple times in The Bible where people were faced with life changing decisions. Some people made the right decision, while others missed the mark. In the beginning, Eve decided to eat of the forbidden fruit after the enemy persuaded her. (Genesis chapter 3) Adam also decided to eat of the fruit, thus causing sin to enter into the world. (Genesis chapter 3, Romans 5:12)

What would've happened if they hadn't made that decision? Who knows; but we do know what happened because of that bad decision.

"Then He said to the woman, I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you. And to the man He said, since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. It will grow thorns and and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. By the sweat of your brow you will have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return." - Genesis 3:16-19

On top of that, they were both banished from the Garden of Eden.

This just goes to show how important it is to make sure that you are making the right decisions all of the time. The consequences for the wrong word, action, or idea can not only affect you -- but also the people around you -- and the people that are coming after you. Don't take this stuff lightly.

Are you scared yet? Ha. You should be. Just kidding.

Fortunately, God knows that we don't always do what's best for us and others. That's why He sent us Jesus! We can go to Jesus with our concerns when we don't know what to do in the form of prayer! He will give us the answers we need! When you pray in Jesus' name, amazing things happen. "Keep on asking, and you receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone that seeks, finds. And everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." - Matthew 7:7-8

Try asking for wisdom and discernment to make the right decisions. Keep asking God to reveal to you what the right decision is. Don't make the decision until you know for certain what to do. Keep God first and let Him lead you. If you allow God to lead you and you put God first in your decision making... You're already making the right decision! Pray without ceasing! Seek God's advice on everything! Pray about everything!

The Bible even says that if we don't know what to pray, The Holy Spirit steps in and gives us the words to say! (Romans 8:26) Ask the Holy Spirit for help! We have all of the resources to make the right choices. Glory be to God.

Let's say you're still struggling with a certain decision. Ask yourself these questions before going into it:

- Does it glorify God?
- Is it pleasing to God?
- Does it require God's help?
- Is it kind?
- Is it loving?
- Is it necessary?
- Is it uplifting to others?
- Would God be happy if I did it anyway?
- My favorite, that my sister once said - "If Jesus was right here standing in front of me in the flesh would I do it?"

If you answered "No" to even one of those questions, I would suggest that you don't do it.

Also, if you haven't already made the decision to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior, I suggest that you make that decision today!

"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9

After that -- join a good faith based Bible based church -- get baptized -- read The Word everyday! Pray everyday! Trust me, I did it. It's still and will forever be the best decision that I have ever made in life!
