FLU GAME JORDAN
This has been a tough year.
In the 1997 NBA finals Michael Jordan took on the Utah Jazz in game 5 with the flu. Yup, the flu. Well, flu like symptoms. Some may even say it might've been food poisoning. Regardless of what he had; he played the entire game dehydrated and exhausted and ended up with a whopping 38 points. Some people can't even score 38 points when they aren't sick...
When asked how he did it in a post game interview he said, "I was really tired. I was very weak. Somehow, I found the energy and stayed strong...I wanted it really bad."
The Bulls went on to win the title.
This entire year has been my "flu game"
I've been really tired, I've been very weak, and I've been sick. However, no matter what the enemy has thrown at me, I've constantly put my trust in The Lord. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30 "Then Jesus said, come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear and the burden I give you is light."
There's so much importance in reading the Bible daily. Once you've got the word ingrained into your heart; there's nothing that can stop you. You'll have a better understanding of why things happen and what to do when they happen. One Bible verse that has been sticking out lately is Isaiah 54:17 - "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgement You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of The Lord And their righteousness is from Me, says The Lord." The key to understanding that verse is the fact that it says "formed against you"...This implies that weapons [will] be formed. The enemy [will] try to destroy you. The enemy [will] form weapons. All the time. HOWEVER... they WON'T prosper.
Understand that life isn't always going to be peaches and cream. There are going to be some hard times in life. These hard times just help you appreciate the good times more. Chapter 3 in the book of Ecclesiastes starts with "to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose on earth..." and boy is that the truth. Last year was one of the best years of my life. This year has been struggle after struggle. Even as I type this blog post I am recovering from food poisoning. However, just like the Jazz couldn't stop Jordan...The enemy can't stop what God has planned for my life. The enemy can't stop what God has planned for YOUR life. We just have to go harder. We just have to keep shooting. Do you think Jordan knew he was going to put up 38 points that night even though he was sick? Do you think points even mattered at that point? I bet his only focus was winning the game. It's like Philippians 3:14 says, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Our entire lives should be centered around that prize of the high calling no matter how hard things may get.
In the end, when they ask how we did it, like Jordan we can say "I was really tired. I was very weak. [However, God gave me the energy and because of that I stayed strong]...I wanted it really bad."
I tweaked it a lil bit.
Keep going. The win is right around the corner.
God Bless. Please keep me in your prayers.
